Norman Lear, has enjoyed a long career in television and film, and as a political and social activist and philanthropist. He is the creator of "All in the Family," "Sanford & Son," "Maude," "Good Times," and "The Jeffersons," among others. His motion picture credits include "Fried Green Tomatoes," "Stand By Me" and "The Princess Bride." Beyond the entertainment world, Mr. Lear has brought his distinctive vision to politics, academia and business by founding several nonprofit organizations including: People For the American Way (1980-present) and the Norman Lear Center at the USC Annenberg School for Communication (2000-present). In 2000, Norman and Lyn Lear bought one of the few surviving original copies of the Declaration of Independence. The document is touring the country as the centerpiece of the Declaration of Independence Road Trip and Declare Yourself, in conjunction with a theatrical event and civic education program.
